4 Reasons to Use Raster Braille Tactile Signs

Raster Braille is one of the most popular ways of creating signage for people who are visually impaired. Here, you create lettering by drilling holes into a sign to create words and numbers in Braille. You then insert beads into the holes to create the tactile part of the sign.

What are the benefits of using Raster bead techniques?

1. Get Durable Lettering

It's important to ensure that people who have visual impairments have access to Braille signs in your workplace. The signs you install need to do the right job. However, you can run into problems with some Braille lettering here.

People who use Braille have to touch the signs to read the information they hold. Constant touching can wear down or break some types of lettering. This reduces the effectiveness of the message.

Raster bead lettering is robust and long-lasting. The beads are firmly fixed into their holes. If a bead were to wear down or to fall out over time, you simply insert a new one to make the sign good again.

2. Get Broader Material Choices

Some Braille signs need to use specific materials. For example, many techniques go on acrylics or photopolymers. You might not get a full choice of signage materials if you choose techniques with limited options.

Raster beads give you more scope. You can use this kind of Braille on just about any kind of sign. You get more flexibility to add Braille to the signs you really want.

3. Get Faster Lead Times

If you want to use a newer Braille sign technology, such as photopolymer printing, then you have to factor set-up times into your order. It might take longer to have your signs printed if the printer has to set up each order individually.

Signs that use Raster beads are quicker to produce. Your printer doesn't have to do as much set-up work on orders as the technology behind this kind of printing needs less customisation. So if you need signs quickly, this could be your best option.

4. Get Lower Costs

While you want effective signage that looks good, you don't necessarily want to spend a lot on your signs. More complex technologies with longer set-up times and unusual materials often come at a higher cost, especially if you only want to place a small order that won't give you economies of scale.

Most printers who make Braille signs already have Raster bead capability and supplies. The speed at which they can create this signage reduces your costs on even small orders.
